Last term Orewa College hosted an exchange performance with Abbotsleigh School from Sydney, Australia. Our Concert Band performed for the visitors, playing some of our recent competition repertoire, then Abbotsleigh School followed with an original piece written for their concert band and then a clarinet solo piece dedicated to Benny Goodman - “The King of Swing”.

Both bands joined together for a workshop and then perform a Michael Jackson compilation. After the concert, members of the bands were able to get to know each other and share experiences over afternoon tea. Students from both schools thoroughly enjoyed the exchange and it was good be able to share our music with students from overseas.
