After a couple months of lockdown and social distancing we are happy to announce that the House System is back. We had our annual House Masterchef competition. This year the students cooked in the new commercial kitchen, we have come a long way from cooking on gas cookers under the pavilion.

Like many events in the house system the level of skill increases every year and this year was no different. Students delivered entrees, mains and desserts of the highest skill level, exceptionally presented and tasted delicious.Over and hour and a half the students fried, boiled, grilled and baked their way through this competition, with only a few broken plates. Regardless of all the obstacles all houses delivered amazing meals and the judges found it very hard to score. This year the winners of House Masterchef 2020 was Nepia. Followed closely by Sheppard / Batten and then McLaren / Blake.

The House 9 and 10 Quiz was also held this week. The brain power, quick thinking and general knowledge of these young brilliant minds made for a very competitive and enjoyable competition. Congratulations Batten, winners of the year 9 and 10 house quiz.

With everything going on in the world it's great to have the house system up and running again. All students have the potential to get involved and benefit from what the house system has to offer. It is wonderful to see positivity in students, healthy competition and a sense of belonging amongst all Orewa College staff and students. Click here to view current house standings
