Careers Hub Term 3 Week 1

This is an important term for thinking about next year whether you are Year 13 or Year 10 or anywhere in between. For students coming back to school next year, Course Selection will be a part of their thinking and there will be plenty of opportunities to speak about this later this term. For those who are looking to leave school at the end of this year, this term is very important in terms of scholarship and accommodation applications for those heading to University, as well as for those who are looking at other course options with their scholarship possibilities too.

Those students who are applying for either scholarships or accommodation should have already attended a presentation at the end of last term, but will also find the information they need on our Careers Google page. All accommodation for University opens this Sunday 1 August and many scholarships will close in August.

All Year 13 students who have questions regarding either of these should come into the Careers Hub during Morning Tea.

The last of the Year 12 presentations regarding course selection will be occurring next week and Year 12 students are invited to come into the Careers Hub to make a Career Appointment this term too.

One of the scholarships, the Allan William Shaw Scholarship, is only available to Orewa College students. Under Mr Shaw’s Will, he provided for a Committee (“the Committee”) to be formed to assist the Trustee in granting scholarships to students of Orewa College to further their tertiary education. This is the link to Allan William Shaw Scholarship and students are encouraged to get onto it early - it closes 31 August at 5pm.
