The Brain Bee Challenge is an Australasian neuroscience competition for Year 11 students. Noriko Hutton, Miara Stoker and Joanna Su successfully completed the round 1 individual quiz in Term 1 and qualified for the North Island finals at Auckland University. The finals day consists of individual and team quizzes based on the neuroscience material they have been studying. The students from various North Island colleges also visited labs to see interesting neuroscience research being carried out at the University. It is also an opportunity to find out about science-based careers and courses.

They enjoyed visiting the anatomy room which they found very fascinating because of the stories behind the specimens. They also enjoyed testing for Huntington's disease which was a hands-on activity.
