Auckland Premier Squash League Competition

Auckland Premier Squash League Competition

Well done to the Premier Girls Squash team for winning the Auckland Premier Squash League. It came down the last match of the season, where Kelsey Beet, our #3 seed had to beat the much higher ranked Westlake Girls #1 seed, and she did, playing probably her best game of the season. Well done to the girls on their efforts this year.

The Boys and Girls squash teams travelled to Palmerston North over the weekend to compete in the NZ Championships. Both teams were seeded outside the main draw so had to go through a qualifying round to get into the main draw. Playing higher ranked opposition, both teams qualified for the main draw. The boys ended up 25th(they were seeded 30th) and the girls 15th(17thseeds) Below is a picture of the two teams.

Congratulations to the girls #1 player, Anne Leakey, who has been selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Junior Squash team to travel to play Australia in Sydney in a couple of weeks. This is the schools first NZ squash representative. Below is a picture of Anne with her NZ teammates.

Orewa College grateful thanks the NZ Community Trust for funding assistance for our Squash teams.
