APO Discovery Concert

A group of almost 30 music students went to the Auckland Town Hall on Wednesday 2May to hear the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. This was the orchestra’s annual education concert and for some students was the first time they had heard a live orchestra perform. The varied concert programme included music by Mozart, a stunning solo violinist playing a movement from Beethoven’s violin concerto and an orchestral version of the film music from “Pirates of the Caribbean”. It was interesting to hear some original music by New Zealand composers, and this certainly inspired some of our students who are creating their own music as part of their NCEA studies.
