AIMES Awards

We have recently received information on the AIMES awards promoted annually by the North Harbour Club. These are valuable awards in the Arts, Innovation, Music, Education, Sport and Service to the Community and our students and ex students have received valuable financial support for their particular skills. The awards cover several levels starting at Junior Excellence from age ten onwards, and including postsecondary young people making their way at the start of their studies and career. We are fortunate to have such an opportunity in our region and encourage you to let us know your interest so we can put forward strong applications. It is also the time of year when seniors start to look at scholarships for University study, including the valuable Alan William Shaw scholarships available specifically to Orewa College students. These scholarships were established some years ago by Mr Shaw who, through the Public Trust left $3m to be invested to award annual scholarships for University study to students of Orewa College. Students applying for either the AIMES awards or tertiary scholarships need to demonstrate good prioritising and self management, ability to set goals and plan for them, and general enthusiasm and positive contribution in their field.
