Our students have returned from a most successful and enjoyable AIMS Tournament. This event is one of the most anticipated events in the National and International Intermediate Schools sporting calendar.
However, participating in such a prestigious event often comes with significant costs, which can be a challenge for many families. We are deeply grateful to North and South Trust and Muldoon's Irish Bar for their generous support. Their funding helped ease the financial burden on many of our students and families, allowing them to proudly represent Orewa College without extra worry.
This support highlights our sponsor's dedication to our students' success and the positive impact sports can have on shaping young lives.
Thank you again, North and South Trust and Muldoon’s Irish Bar, for your incredible contribution to the lives of our students and for fostering the spirit of community and sportsmanship in our next generation.
What an incredible week our AIMS teams and individuals had at last week's AIMS Tournament! With 88 talented students and 25 dedicated coaches and managers representing OC throughout the week long competition, it was truly a remarkable effort. Big congratulations to those students who received medals.
Also a huge shoutout to our volunteer coaches and managers, whose time and commitment made this event possible. We could not have done it without you. An especial thank you to our wonderful sponsors' Muldoons Irish Bar and North and South Trust.
Huge congratulations to Yusra Rashid for taking home the gold medal in the squash final - absolutely fantastic! A big shout out to Roxy Hefer and Lacey Gornall for earning Silver in the Orienteering Rogaine event. This is especially exciting as it is the first year Orienteering has been featured at AIMS! Well done girls!
What an epic AIMS Games for our swim team! Seamus Avery, Christian Ralph, Indi Curnow, Eva Meyer, Poppy Harrod. The entire crew crushed it, especially given the long 3 day event filled with anticipation between races. Everyone showed incredible endurance and spirit!
A special shout out to Christian Ralph, who earned the AIMS Sportsmanship Medal for his outstanding positive attitude both in the pool and cheering on his teammates.
Seamus raced in 9 events, placing top 5 in 5 of them, and top 10 in 3 more, competing against 50-60 other swimmers in each race. He walked away with a Silver in the 50m Fly and a Bronze in the 50m Freestyle.
Also a big thank you to Natasha Rice from Rice Designs for donating towards our brand new OC swim caps. These will be available to buy for all our swimming and water polo teams.
