Science

In Science students explore how both the natural physical world and science itself work so that they can participate as critical, informed and responsible citizens in a society in which science plays a significant role.

Middle School (Years 7 & 8)

Year 7 Year 8

Our Year 7 Science programme is the focus of Terms 2&3, alternating with Social Studies. Students gather foundation skills and knowledge in science, before having choice in their area of study. This allows students a great deal of opportunity to practice their Key Competencies.

Term 2 “Nature of Science” – states of matter, scientific inquiry, fair testing

Term 3 “World of Wonder” – students opt into high-interest topics for independent inquiry

Our Year 8 Science programme enables students to gather foundation skills and knowledge in science with an emphasis on key competencies.

Term 1 “Living World” - choice of context of living world topics to explore in an individualised inquiry. Social action and a “community clean up” finish the term off.

Term 3 & 4 – “Earth’s Fury”; an integrated topic with Social Studies. Particularly looking at our planet and natural phenomena that occur in our world.
