Everything new students and their whānau need to know about starting at Orewa College in 2025. From the pōwhiri to induction programmes, school tours, and what to bring. Here’s how to prepare for a smooth start to the school year.

Key Dates

Wednesday, 29 January 2025: First day for all new students of Orewa College.

Thursday, 30 January 2025: First day for all returning students of Orewa College.

Key Information:

Wednesday, 29 January 2025:

• Pōwhiri at 8:40 am:
  • All Year 7 students and new Year 8-13 students are invited with parents/caregivers.
  • Please assemble on the front courts by Student Reception (Driveway 2).
• For Year 7 and new Year 8-9 students:
  • Stay for the full day (8:40 am - 3:15 pm).
  • Participate in peer support and induction programmes.
• For new Year 10-13 students:
  • Attend a school tour and meet Form Teachers and Deans.
  • Finalise timetables.
  • Finish time: Approximately 11:00 am.
• We’re thrilled to welcome new students to our Orewa College whānau. The pōwhiri marks the start of an exciting journey as part of our community.

What to Bring:

• Full school uniform.
• Pen, paper, and your device.
• Morning tea and lunch (the canteen will not be open on Wednesday).
